Weekend Plans

We are pretty simple folks here.
So our Memorial Day weekend
will probably be something like this....

spend some quality time outside
gardening and watering the flowers

go somewhere downtown
I really want to go the "Kissing Statue"
before it leaves San Diego

Have a picnic somewhere
with our good pals,
Patty and her two boys

And of course, we will remember
all those who gave their lives
for our freedom...So thankful.

What are your plans?

Sweet and Scary

This is Casa de Estudillo Hacienda built in 1827.
It is now a museum in Old Town San Diego
and one of my favorite places to visit.

I photographed the room in hopes of
capturing a sweet spirit that might want
to make a special appearance.
I don't see anything....do you?

This was a sweet little girl's room
who's name I don't know, but I'm searching high and low for it.

I love her little dolls and doll beds,
but I especially love her little velvet rocking chair.

Honestly,
this painting freaks me out,
but I love it at the same time.

I have more photos to share
of this lovely hacienda soon.
Hopefully we could spot some sweet spirits :)

Boy, do I wish I lived in the 1800's
when life was slow and real.

KIDS HEART ART WEDNESDAY

Lily had her first formal art class on Saturday.
To say she liked it is not enough,
this little girl is in love with ART!!!!

Relaxing her hand
and drawing lines and shapes.

Tracing a frame for her drawing.

Drawing what else? a dolphin of course.

As you can see,
Lily drew a dolphin, orca whale, sperm whale,
sharks, sea star, sea urchin and kelp.

Lily then painted and blended her drawing with pastels.
She's so funny because she talks to herself about the colors,
as if nobody was there ( I do it too).

She's going to finish the drawing in two weeks
as she still needs to blend and outline with black.

After the class,
we grabbed a yummy lunch at Panera
and then made it just in time to her 1:00pm
open studio art class.

I know it's a lot to have two art classes in
one day, but she insisted she wanted to go to both.

I will post pics of her other art class tomorrow.

Have an artsy day!

I took this photo of Lily's eye peeking through
her colorful flower bracelet.
I simply love it!

iPad Favorites

Exhausted is an understatement
on this Monday.

My weekend plans were changed a bit for Sunday,
as my sister was moving and needed all the help possible.

iPad Love

Lily insists on only wearing anything with dogs,
so if that means wearing the same shirt as last week, then that's how it will be.

iPad Love

This cute little monkey I made for Lily
last week. He needs a name though...any suggestions?

iPad Love

Before heading to my sister's yesterday,
we made a quick stop at Target.
And guess what I got????
super cute tape from Kid Made Modern
and cool colors for Lily.

Cool Fact....If you google Todd Oldham Target,
you will see my blog post from Thursday...Wow!

iPad Love

I have to have to buy this book for Lily and I.
It's about a little girl
who isn't good at sports, ballet and video games,
but is super crafty(sounds familiar).
Chloe(the character) is invited to a birthday party
and as she's about to buy a doll for the birthday girl, her mean friend London,
snatches it from behind her....so mean!
What does Chloe do..you ask? Like any good crafter ,
she makes a dress for the doll that London
took away from her little hands.

Love the message of this story.
I always tell Lily it's better to make something you don't have
because you have to think about how you're going to make it, and the
best part is.... nobody else will have it :)

How was your weekend?

Art Messages

I love waking up to the sound
of birds singing...don't you?

This by far was my favorite quote
written by my sweet hubby
and such a lovely surprise :)

I really want to do this with Lily's name
and a tutorial too.
